Soon after Neil and Marian Austin were married in 1983, they bought a small 3-acre farm a mile south of Silverton. After making their home habitable and having a couple of sons, they set to clearing the blackberries and started planting apples, the majority of which were grafted on dwarf rootstock. Today they have over 50 varieties plus table grapes, pears and figs.

In 1989 Austin Farm became certified organic with Oregon Tilth and continue to be today. Early on, local organic outlets were few and far between, so they went to Portland and Eugene for sales. They’ve been a producer for 20 years at Salem's Saturday Market and natural food store since the late 90s, and would eventually like to sell in Silverton.

Sales at Austin Farm, by appointment, are welcome and contact-free to keep everyone safe and healthy. They are also exploring a drop-off location in Silverton. Their season generally runs from late July until November.  Along with #1's, they also sell seconds for processing and cider.
